General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course is A Diploma Nursing course. It deals with the
field of science and covers healthcare profession focused on the care of individuals, families,
and communities so they may maintain, attain or recover optimal health and quality of life from
conception to death.
It prepares the students to practice across all health care settings. A balanced Equation course,
GNM Skills the candidate well to assist the doctors in taking history with examination, diagnosis
and treatment they implement what the doctor prescribes. They are the only medical staff who
collects the health care data and records vital for evaluation of treatment and medications.
This course will enable you to go for various nursing, midwifery and related other medical jobs in
hospitals. GNM aspirants can work at Hospitals, Private clinics, Schools, Private offices,
Training institutes, and Rehabilitation centres. Nurses can also take up administrative and
teaching positions in medical colleges and nursing schools.
The four-year undergraduate course in Nursing has been designed to completely train and

B.Sc in Nursing will train and produce nurses with the ability to critically think and be clear

situations, all within the scope of the field. It will also train them to protect the rights of the

A B.Sc. Nursing is required for entry into a Master's Degree in nursing program that prepares
you for leadership, management and more independent roles, such as clinical nurse specialist,
nurse practitioner, educator and researcher.
A B.Sc. Nursing is preferred and often required for military nursing, case management, public
health nursing, overseas/development nursing, forensic nursing and school nursing. Nursing
training is a combination of theory and practice. During the period of training nursing students
are given practical instruction by senior ward staff. Their work is organized and supervised by
nurse-tutors. They also attend lectures by specialists in various fields of medicine and some
days may be totally devoted to study and lectures on various aspects of medicine and nursing.
During the training period nurses are moved around all hospital departments. Gradually they are
entrusted with more responsibility so that the transition from training to taking full
responsibility seems quite natural.
With surplus private as well as government hospitals in India, there are various job opportunities
for nursing graduates in both sectors. The rapid growth and privatization of the healthcare
industry have enhanced employment in this sector. Each year the government hires nurses.
